Science & Engineering Festival Returns To Michigan Tech

The 20th Annual Western UP Science Fair and STEM Festival will catapult into the Michigan Tech MUB Commons on Thursday, April 12, from 4:30-7:30 pm.

The STEM Festival features nearly thirty hands-on Science & Engineering activity stations led by Michigan Tech students and community members. Many MTU student chapters are participating, from the Society of Women Engineers, Delta Zeta, Alternative Energy Enterprise, to Mind Trekkers, Keweenaw Ojibwe Indian Community and Copper Country Recycling Initiative.

Activities include: Making Concrete Aggregate Ice Cream, Marshmallow Toothpick Towers, Egg Drop, Remotely Operated Vehicles, Foundry in a Box, Bottle Terrariums, Friction Races, and so much more!

ALL families from throughout the western UP are encouraged to attend. This is a great way to learn about majors and careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Schedule
4:30-7:30 pm    Families & students visit more than 30 STEM activity stations ~ MUB Commons
4:30–5:45 pm  Science Fair projects open to the public ~ 2nd Floor Ballroom

The event is a valuable learning experience for students of all ages!

The Western UP Science Fair and STEM Festival is coordinated by the Western UP Center for Science, Mathematics and Environmental Education, MTU Center for Science & Environmental Education and Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society made possible by sponsorship from the following Michigan Tech Departments:
