See Sawing For 36 Hours At Winter Carnival

Chilly temperatures won’t put the freeze on Wednesday’s All-Nighter.

The official kick-off of Michigan Tech’s Winter Carnival is one of the campus’s most anticipated events of the year.

Blue Key Honor Society President Bradley Torni said, “We all, collectively, get together on campus during the All-Nighter and just have a blast. There’s chili trucks that go through, we got deep fried Twinkies, there’s big ice figures on campus and there’s just a lot of fun for the campus to come together for the winter and experience the Winter Carnival.”

The iconic snow speakers will be rocking out the tunes while students work frantically to finish their snow statues.

Besides the great food, games and activities normally associated with Winter Carnival–some students use the All-Nighter for a good cause.

4th year MTU Chemical Engineering Student Hannah Townsend said, “We are going up and down like this because we are members of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and we are raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We are doing this for 36 hours. We’ve got some blankets right here (to keep warm).

Judging of the month-long and the All-Nighter statues takes place Thursday morning.

The students only have until 8am to finish them.
