WHERE: Michigan Tech’s Fisher Hall, look for the signs.  Parking is available in metered spots or the visitors lot.  We will have parking passes for team vehicles available at the competition.
CATEGORIES: Students will compete as individuals and as teams of 4 in three categories: elementary (3-5), middle school (6-8), and high school (9-12).  If you do not sign up with a team of 4, we will find you some great new teammates at the competition and you can still win the team trophies.  It only matters what grade you are in, not what math class you are in.
THE MATERIAL: All tests will be age appropriate, but the material does not follow the typical school topics.
THE TESTS: Students will take a 30 minute individual test with numerical answers, then a 30 minute team test where everyone works to solve 10 problems, then a 30 minute team GUTS round where each team races to complete as many problems as they can.  Top 10-20 individual student students will get to compete in a championship round to decide the final individual places.
COACHES/PARENTS: You do not have to come and you do not have to stay.  You can just organize a team and send them on their own. We would LOVE to have your help grading and feeding and proctoring, but it is okay to just drop off.  The guts round, the championship round, and the awards are open to the public, but the other rounds are not (and are not much fun to watch).  Even the youngest will be just fine once it all starts.
