Social Media Posts Warn Of Suspicious White Van

Reports being shared on social media are alerting parents about a suspicious white and grey van that has been seen in the area.

The post warns that someone inside the van was seen trying to lure children with free candy in an effort to kidnap them.

Similar social media posts have popped up in various parts of the country making it difficult for law enforcement to determine where an actual threat may exist.

Deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office say they are aware of the online posts but have not received any direct complaints.

Undersheriff Kevin Coppo said residents should use caution and report any suspicious activity to the sheriff’s department, their local police department, or call 911.
