State Sues to Force Café Rosetta Shutdown

The State of Michigan has gone to court to try to shut down a Calumet restaurant.

Café Rosetta was one of the first establishments in the state to be fined for defying the MDHHS Epidemic Order by refusing to close its indoor dining area. It has continued to flout the rule, with numerous reports of patrons dining inside, without masks.

The legal case against the café was filed yesterday in Ingham County by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, which says the establishment has been operating without a valid food service license.

Republican State Senator Ed McBroom and Representative Greg Markkanen issued a joint statement yesterday, criticising the the legal action.
