Statewide Liquor Shortages Affecting Copper Country

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission is demanding action to resolve a growing problem with shortages of alcoholic beverages in the state.

At Tadych’s Econo Foods, manager John Dittmann says they’ve been feeling the pinch…

Dittmann says the shortages have also affected some of their specialty selections…

The Liquor Control Commission is focusing on Republic National Distributing Company. RNDC is one of three distribution agents licensed to operate in the state. Company officials are blaming software problems at a new facility. State officials are threatening to levy penalties if the issues aren’t corrected.

Meanwhile, Dittmann is expecting shortages to continue through the holidays…

If you have a favorite holiday wine or spirit, Dittmann recommends that you try to buy it early, even if you need to special order it.
