Strong Storms Prompt Warning

A strong line of thunderstorms produced a rare tornado warning in the western Upper Peninsula last night.

The alert was issued around 10:00 pm. The National Weather Service said radar indicated potential tornadic activity in the Paulding area.

The resulting warning covered the northern half of Iron County, along with small portions of southern Houghton and Baraga Counties.

Much of the rest of the western U.P. was placed under a tornado watch, which expired at 11:00 pm.
