“Thanks” Plaque To Be Added To Italian Hall Site

A new plaque will be added soon to the Italian Hall Memorial Site.

Last night, the Calumet Village Council approved the marker, which will credit those who helped create the monument commemorating the victims that was dedicated two years ago.

Mike Lahti, who spearheaded the monument effort, read the inscription, listing those who made the project possible…

The plaque will be placed on the Italian Hall arch, and not on the monument itself. It will be paid for with money left over from the monument fundraising drive.

A citizen suggested that individuals and groups that have helped the village obtain and maintain the site over the years also be included. Council members noted that this plaque is designed specifically to deal with the monument, and said they would welcome a separate proposal to recognize others who have helped develop the site.
