This Week Is Septic Smart Week

Did you know one in five U.S. homes have septic systems? Yours may be one of them. If your septic system is not properly maintained, you may be risking your family’s health, potentially polluting the environment, and flushing thousands of dollars down the drain.

This week is Septic Smart Week and the Western UP Health Department is encouraging people to make sure their septic systems are properly maintained.

SepticSmart Week is an annual event focused on educating homeowners and communities on the proper care and maintenance of their septic systems.  Proper septic system use and routine care are vital to protecting public health; preserving our highly valued groundwater, lakes, streams and waterways; and avoiding costly repairs that can result from neglect.
