Two Local Races Will Be Decided Today

There are many decisions being made today.

Even though this is a primary, the next Houghton County Clerk will be decided since both candidates are on the Democrat side.

The current clerk, Jennifer Kelly Lorenz of Pelkie is being challenged by Lake Linden’s Mary Beth Hodges.

Calumet residents will decide who will represent the Republicans for their district’s Houghton County Commissioner seat in the general election.

Incumbent Eugene Londo is once again up against former county commissioner Tom Tikkanen, whom Londo beat out in the primary in 2014.

Tikkanen says he did not make the decision to run again lightly.

The winner of today’s primary will go up against Democrat Rick Kasprzak of Calumet in November.
