Two Openings On Houghton County Land Bank Authority

The Houghton County Land Bank authority is looking for board members to fill two expiring positions.

One applicant should belong to a local unit of government such as a township board or city council member.

The other applicant should be a resident of Houghton County.

The Houghton County Land Bank Authority was formed to acquire property through the tax foreclosure process.

The property can then be used for neighborhood revitalization, home ownership and affordable housing, the return of property to productive tax paying status, land assemblage for economic development, and long term “banking” of properties for future strategic uses.

If you are interested in becoming a board member, please complete an application and return it to the Controller’s Office at the Houghton County Courthouse no later than 4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8th.

Applications are available at the Controller’s Office or on the Houghton County website at Employment/Applications for Boards and Commissions.
