UP Health System Portage Begins Allowing Visitors On A Limited Basis

In a press release sent this morning, UP Health System Portage has announced they will begin  allowing visitors on a limited basis effective immediately.

Lower than expected volume of COVID-19 cases in the region, factored in the decision.

The new restrictions will allow most patients to have one visitor or support person per day.

Chief Nursing Officer Ryan Heinonen.

Other restrictions include visitors being 18 or older, everyone will be screened upon entry, and facial coverings will also be required.

To help the hospital conserve PPE, please wear your own mask, if possible.

Should you fail the screening process, you’ll be asked to return, when you are symptom free.

Visiting hours will be from 10am-8pm daily and no visitors for people high-risk, isolation, immunocompromised, or patients who are under observation or have tested positive for COVID-19.

Please note these restrictions are for the hospital only.

Their nursing home, PortagePointe, is still enforcing a no-visitor policy.
