UPPCO Crews Addressing Remaining Outages from Thursday’s Storm

Marquette – As of 10 a.m. Saturday, here is the latest update regarding Thursday’s storm that brought high winds and lightning, resulting in outages impacting numerous Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) customers:
An estimated 100 customers remain without power in certain areas located within Houghton and Ontonagon counties. Hardest hit locations include Twin Lakes and Jacobsville in Houghton County and the lakeshore area near Ontonagon.
Crews have and continue to work steadily. It is possible that some customers may not see power restored until later today.
UPPCO reminds the public to always consider a power line to be energized, even if it is on the ground. Do not touch a downed line or try to move it in any way.
Anyone coming across downed wires or trees or limbs on lines should call UPPCO’s 24-hour electric emergency number at 800-562-7809.
UPPCO customers can receive timely outage updates via Twitter @UPPCOstorm.  Outage information and storm safety tips can be found at www.uppco.com under Outages and Service Problems.
