US Attorney Appoints Election Oversight Officer

It won’t be just state and local officials watching over the integrity of the November election.

U.S. Attorney Mark Totten has appointed Assistant United States Attorney Justin Presant to oversee issues that arise November 8th in the Western District of Michigan. As District Election Officer, Presant will deal with complaints of voting rights concerns, threats of violence to election officials or staff, and election fraud, in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington.

The U.S. Attorney’s office has also established a hotline at 616-808-2140 and a website that citizens can use to report concerns.

Totten says the Department of Justice will “always work tirelessly to protect the integrity of the election process.”
