Verran Departs Houghton-Portage Township School Board

The Houghton-Portage Township Board of Education has lost a member.

Fellow trustees said “goodbye” last night to Crystal Verran, who is moving out of state.

Board president Nels Christopherson said Verran’s 10 years on the board were productive…

“She has served on most of our committees over that time, and been very active, and also very ably represented our board on the Copper Country Association of School Boards.”

He added that board meetings won’t be the same without her…

“Thank you to Crystal for all her service and dedication to the students and community of Houghton-Portage school district over these past years. Crystal, we wish you well in your new endeavors, and will miss you at our monthly get-togethers.”

Several other board members and administrators echoed the praise.
