Walker Consultants Present Parking Study

Multiple parking surveys, in different seasons, wouldn’t have made much of a difference.

This from last night’s presentation from Walker Consultants.

Representative Eric Haggett.

The presentation last night was not tied to the Lakeshore Advisory Referendum on Primary Election Day, as the survey was conducted towards the end of February, and last night’s presentation was scheduled before the election.

Walker Representative Andrew Baglini on what went into the study.

An online survey was also part of the data collection.

It was noted that 10am was peak parking time, and that less than half of available parking spots downtown were used at that time.

Parking use also picked up between 4p-6pm.

It was also noted the main reason people go downtown was dining and entertainment.

Suggestions to improve parking downtown included improving signage, more short term parking, and additional parking for snowmobiles.
