Snow will be here before you know it, but local parking bans will go into effect even sooner.
Most municipalities begin their Winter Parking Restrictions on November 1st.
Houghton Police Chief John Donnelly said they are starting to issue warnings to remind people not to park in the streets or on right-of-ways.
Subsequently, the ban of parking on lawns is lifted during the winter.
The restrictions are in effect until May 1st.
