Winter Storm Warning Goes Into Effect Tonight

Welcome back to winter.

A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 10:00pm tonight for the Houghton area as heavy snow is expected through tomorrow and into Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service is forecasting accumulations of 9 to 14 inches and wind gusts as high as 35 mile per hour in northern Houghton and Keweenaw Counties.

Watch for blowing snow if you are out on the roads and keep you speed down as crews are just beginning to spread the salt and sand mix for the season.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case
of an emergency.

The Winter Storm Warning will be in effect until 7:00am Saturday.
