WUPHD Issues Health Advisory

The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department recently issued a health advisory, reminding residents to follow Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home Stay Safe” Executive Order, which has now been extended through the end of the month.

The advisory also reminds residents that they should contact their healthcare care provider, if they show signs of COVID-19 which include fever, coughing more than usual and shortness of breath.

Kate Beer, Health Officer for the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department, also offered advice to people returning to Copper Country, from their Winter residences.

To date, Houghton County has 1 confirmed case, while 24 residents are awaiting test results.

Gogebic County has the Western Upper Peninsula’s only death from the virus.
