Mackinac Bridge Software Upgrade Going Slowly

You could encounter some delays when crossing the Mackinac Bridge.

Mackinac Bridge Authority Executive Secretary Bob Sweeney says they’ve been installing hardware and software upgrades in toll lane booths but encountered some glitches that have resulted in the delays.

One of the benefits of the upgrades is that you’ll be able to use credit or debit cards in all lanes of the bridge.

Credit cards are accepted at the bridge now, but only in the administration building.

Drivers will also have the option to use a pre-paid toll account called the Mac Pass.

The software upgrades are also being made at the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, and the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron.

They should be fully implemented this summer.
