MDOT Returns to Work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge

Repair work to the Portage Lake lift bridge begins today. Earlier this morning MDOT crews began intermittent shutdowns of the northbound outside lane of the bridge. Work crews are continuing work on the state’s 4.3 million dollar project to replace the bridge’s finger joints and install underside false decking beneath one bridge span. The intermittent lane closures will end on November 15th.

The adjacent sidewalk to the northbound lane will close starting next Monday. MDOT crews will place signage directing residents where to safely cross the bridge in the area. The intermittent lane closure will not impact traffic flow between 4 and 6 in the evening.

Please watch for MDOT workers in the area, and obey all traffic laws while crossing the Portage Lake Lift Bridge where road work is taking place.
