Memorial Service Held At State Senate

In the State Senate Thursday morning, the 22nd annual memorial day service was held.

Michigan Senator David Knezek talked about a table that was set in Senate Chambers, with one place setting.  He says the table for one is set for a specific reason.

World War 2 vet and retired U of M professor Dr John Clark spoke about why men and women give their lives fighting for America.

Among the many others introduced, and receiving a standing ovation, was Amir Hekmati — the Flint man who was released in January after spending more than four years in an Iranian prison on espionage charges.

Bagpipers from the Kalamazoo Pipe Band performed throughout morning’s service inside the Michigan State Capitol.
