Menge Re-Elected – Baraga County Election Results

Longtime Democratic Baraga County Commissioner Bill Menge held off a challenge from Republican Calvin Koski in the only contested Board race in Tuesday’s election. Menge outpolled Koski 477 to 305. It was Koski’s third run against Menge.

In other contested races from Baraga County, Lowella Eskel defeated Amber Franti 133-113 in the race for Covington Township Supervisor. Eskel will take over for Steve Salli, who retired after holding the post for two decades.

James Fedie was elected unopposed to one of two terms on the L’Anse Board of Education. No one filed for the other term. Write-in votes were still being processed when this story was posted. We will update it when results are available.

The L’Anse School District had asked voters to approve a one-mill levy for 12 years to create a sinking fund that would be used for building repairs and maintenance. That proposal passed, 1080-901.

The Arvon Township School District was asking for a renewal of the 18-mill non-homestead property tax levy. Voters approved the request 194-78. In recent years, the district has collected only 10 of the 18 mills.

The rest of the races in Baraga County were uncontested, and finished as expected. Check full results here.
