MI Gas Prices Rise on Refinery Troubles

Refinery problems at a BP facility in Indiana are already resulting in higher gas prices in Michigan.

Gasbuddy.com’s Patrick Dehann says the refinery issue is causing prices to rise and they could go up as much as 30 cents per gallon in the short term.

The BP refinery is the seventh largest in the country and the largest in the Midwest.

And if the wholesale price goes up it could also mean yet another temporary increase at the pump.

DeHaan notes, however, a previously-predicted drop below two dollars per gallon in Michigan is still in place and could be a reality as soon as late September or early October.
