MI Jobless Rate Below National Average

Michigan’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.8 percent in February, according to state officials.

They attribute the decline to strong job growth during the first two months of this year. And it’s also below the national unemployment rate.

Michigan’s jobless rate hasn’t been this low in 15 years.

The Michigan rate was 4.9 percent in January.

The number of people working grew by 36,000 during the month. Four-point-six million people are currently working in Michigan.

Since February of last year, the number of working Michiganders grew by 134,000.

The number of unemployed Michiganders has decreased by 46,000 since February of last year, when the jobless rate was 5.9 percent.
