Michigan Residents Warned of Election Scams

The Better Business Bureau is warning folks to watch out for election year scams.

Jessica Huffman of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Michigan says scammers may pose as a candidate or advocacy campaigns, with the goal of stealing your personal information.

So watch out if you get a phone call from someone asking for that.

The BBB lists four common election season scams and schemes and the red flags you should look for.

They include campaign fund collections, re-registration scams, election survey scams and vote by phone scams.

Huffman says the scammers pose either as anyone you would give money to, or give information to.

She says if you didn’t make the call, check out any person or group before you hand over anything.
