Michigan Tech's Disaster Drill Today

A disaster drill is scheduled for this afternoon at Michigan Tech.

Tech officials say not to be concerned if sirens are heard or emergency vehicles are seen on campus today.

The purpose of this drill is to practice emergency response and cooperation between Michigan Tech and the various agencies that might be involved in an actual situation.

Participants in the drill will include Michigan Tech’s Department of Public Safety and Police Services, the University’s Incident Command Team, Houghton Police and Fire Departments, the Houghton County Sheriff and Emergency Management Office, UP Health System-Portage, Aspirus Keweenaw and Mercy Ambulance.

The exact time of the disaster drill has not been released.
