More Car Thefts in July so ATPA is Offering Tips to Prevent Auto Thefts

July is a hot month for hot cars, as it is the most popular month for auto thefts in the state.

That includes using common sense, not leaving your keys in your car, closing doors and windows, parking in well lit areas and installing a car alarm or use a theft deterrent device like a steering wheel lock.

And just because you have an older model car doesn’t mean you’re less likely to fall victim to auto theft. Six of the 10 most stolen cars in Michigan in 2013 were at least 9 years old.
