New Fracking Regulations Called For

Fracking companies would operate under new rules and regulations under legislation introduced by Democrats in the Michigan House.

State Representative Christine Greig, D-Northville, says the package of bills would go a long way in protecting the state’s most vital industries – agriculture and tourism.

And State Representative Jeff Irwin, D-Ann Arbor, says the state’s current fracking rules are outdated and are need of an update.

The bills would, among other things, require companies to say what chemicals they use when fracking, allow local governments to request a public hearing before a fracking company moves in to a community and allow local governments to regulate fracking.
