Optimisim for Small Businesses and Employees

More small businesses in Michigan are planning to give their employees raises in the first half of the year.

A survey by the Small Business Association of Michigan finds 42-percent are planning to increase wages.

That’s up from 36-percent six months ago.

The SBA’s Michael Rogers says companies are realizing it’s better to boost the wages and salaries for those on their staffs than to replace those who leave for better pay elsewhere.

The survey also says 50-percent of small business owners reported an increase in sales in the last six months.

Also 32-percent have hired more workers and 37-percent are experiencing an increase in profits.
