Portage Health Foundation Launches End Hunger Drive On Giving Tuesday

This year, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, the Portage Health Foundation is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.

Last year, more than 27,000 organizations in 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday.  Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.  The Portage Health Foundation invites you to join the movement and to help get out and give this December 1.

“The Portage Health Foundation is using #GivingTuesday as the campaign launch for its hunger initiative- Stop the Roar of Hunger,” said Chelsea Goodreau, Fund Development Assistant with the PHFoundation. “Together, we can make a difference and help feed our fellow neighbors. The goal is to raise $50,000 between December 1, 2015 and the Spring Gala next spring-May 21, 2016. The money raised will be used to help fund different projects to help fight hunger in our four-county community.”

“Proper nutrition is critical to a child’s development and not having proper food has serious effects on a child’s physical and mental health,” said Chelsea Goodreau. “Many of our senior citizens, due to their fixed incomes, have to choose between purchasing groceries or their medications.” The impact of hunger in our area effects the entire community.

To learn more, visit the PHFoundation’s website www.phfgive.org. You will find at the top of the home back the “Contribute” button. To specify your donation to our Hunger fundraising efforts, write in the comments “Stop the Roar of Hunger.” We will give updates over the next months of our updates and what progress is being made toward our goal!

The Portage Health Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that receives and contributes charitable donations, which support the health needs of the community through enhanced philanthropy and community collaboration throughout the counties of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon.
