Protestors Condemned by Village of Calumet

The Village of Calumet has passed a resolution condemning a group of protestors who recently held a gathering to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the village councils decision to not act on Michigans new medical marijuana law, forcing two dispensaries in the village limits to close up shop.

Protesters gathered in front of the Zen Garden recently, then marched to the homes of two board members, in hopes of persuading each of them to call an emergency meeting and take a vote on the matter.

Both board members say that they were in fear for their safety. The Resolution states that “The village will not tolerate intimidation and harassment of its elected officials”… and goes on to say that the protestors were trespassing on private property, creating a threatening environment by loudly pounding on the president’s, and the trustee’s front doors.”
