As the overnight closure of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge approaches…you may have heard what work will be done on the bridge and how…but why is the work being done?
MDOT’s Alan Anderson answers that question.
Given the age of the bridge, the harsh weather and simple wear and tear, Anderson says the time had come to make the repairs.
The closure of the bridge is scheduled to begin around 9pm Saturday and will reopen around 7am on Sunday.
Waiting rooms for those unable to cross will be available at the Magnusson Hotel Franklin Square Inn in Houghton and Lakeview Manor in Hancock.
