Resolution Near In Looper Assault Case

The case against a Hancock man accused of attacking a woman with a knife took another step forward.

41-year-old Jeremy Vernon Looper appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court for a pretrial Monday.

Looper is charged with 1st Degree Home Invasion which is a 20 year felony…and Assault with a deadly weapon which is a four year felony.

He is currently being lodged in the Houghton County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

Police say Looper entered a Lake Linden woman’s apartment in June and attacked her with a knife.

Defense Attorney David Gemignani said that they are in the process of working out a resolution for the case.

Another pretrial will be held in two weeks.
