Rideshare Company Regulation Bills In Both House And Senate

Bills competing in the Michigan House and Senate would regulate rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft.

Senator Rick Jones is backing a bill that would hold rideshare companies to the same inspection and insurance standards as limousines.

Representative Tim Kelly is sponsoring similar legislation in the House that doesn’t include the limo standard.

He doesn’t think the standard does anything to increase safety.

Kelly’s bill is awaiting a vote in the House. Jones bill awaits the same in the Senate.
