Right-to-Try Law for Terminally Ill

Legislation has been approved by a Michigan Senate committee that would give terminally ill patients the right to participate in experimental drug trials before the drugs are approved by the FDA. The measure, if given final approval, would make Michigan one of the few states enacting a so-called “right to try” law. The measure follows requests from some cancer patients and others with life-threatening illnesses who say they don’t have the luxury of waiting for full clinical trial data to be completed before they can have access to new drugs. The bill now goes to the full senate for consideration.
