Santa Claus Greets Kids At The Vertin Gallery

It’s that time of year when Santa comes to visit and spreads his holiday cheer to the Keweenaw community.

His first stop was Christmas in Calumet, where children gathered at the Vertin Gallery to tell Santa their Christmas wishes.

Santa says he is very proud of kids in the Copper Country.

Santa At The Vertin GallerySanta Claus said, “Kids ask for things for other people too, not just for themselves. That’s why I like these kids here. They’re good kids and they think of others. ”

Just outside, a horse-drawn carriage took riders around downtown Calumet.

At the Calumet Visitor’s Center, families took part in arts and crafts and enjoyed refreshments.

Next stop was the Houghton County Historical Museum. The Santa Train took families on a 5 minute ride around the museum grounds. Santa stopped by the log cabin to meet with Lake Linden kids and ask about their Christmas wishes.

Mr. Claus says he had a great time in the Keweenaw and will be back when Christmas in Calumet continues December 12th.

Claus said, “Merry Christmas! Ho-Ho-Ho!”

And just like that, Santa heads back to the North Pole to plan for another great Christmas in the Copper Country.
