Senator Smith Stripped Of His Responsibilities

State Senator Virgil Smith has been stripped of his responsibilities in Lansing in the wake of his arraignment on five charges stemming from a domestic dispute.

Senate Minority Leader Jim Ananich has removed Smith from his committees and Democratic caucus responsibilities.

Smith however has not been removed as chair of the Legislative Black Caucus.

He’s accused of assaulting his ex-wife and shooting at her car early Sunday morning.
