Governor Rick Snyder has formally filed for re-election to a second and final term in office. The news comes as no surprise since all indications up to this point were that the governor was interested in a second term. A statement from the governor’s communications director says that Governor Snyder has shown his commitment to every Michigander by creating over a quarter of a million jobs, eliminating a budget deficit and creating a surplus, bringing unemployment to its lowest rate since 2008, and increasing education funding. Prior to being elected Governor of Michigan, Snyder was chairman of the board at Gateway Computers, as well as being a co-founder of a venture capital firm in Ann Arbor.
