Snyder Speaks At Great Lakes Leaders Summit

Governor Rick Snyder was on hand Friday in Quebec City for the opening of the 2015 Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governor’s and Premiers Leadership Summit.

The theme this year is “Connecting Across Borders,” with a focus on Economic Development, Transportation and the Environment.

Governor Snyder calls this year’s summit an “excellent opportunity” to continue to see progress in taking care of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway.

He also says more can be done to improve the Great Lakes as well as the economy of the lakes, adding that he’d like to see more cruise ships around the Great Lakes.

Goals include doubling the maritime trade. The economy of the entire region is valued at $5 trillion according to the governor.
