Speed Limit Increases Approved

Now that the state House has approved a package of bills, about 600 miles of rural highways could see their speed limit raised to 75 miles per hour, while another 900 miles of roads could have the limit boosted to 60 miles per hour.

The vote narrowly passed, 56-53.

Opponents say with the deteriorating condition of Michigan roads, the speed limit increases are a recipe for more accidents and fatalities.
