Emergency Alert Test At 2:20pm Wednesday

Don’t be alarmed if you hear emergency warnings this afternoon.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is holding a statewide and national test of its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) at 2:20.

The test will be similar to the month Emergency Alert System tests that you may hear on radio stations and see on televisions each month.

The goals of the test is to assess the readiness and effectiveness of the warning system’s infrastructure and to implement a standard method for regular alert and warning tests which help to improve national preparedness in the case of an emergency.

Authorities say cell phones will not be tested during this event.

Again, the emergency system will be tested at 2:20 this afternoon.
