Fatal Crash In Schoolcraft County

MANISTIQUE OUTPOST: On January 16, 2019 at approximately 5:30 pm Troopers from the Michigan State Police, Manistique Outpost, were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Port Inland Road just south of US-2 in Doyle Township of Schoolcraft County.

Upon arriving on scene, Troopers found the driver of the vehicle was not responsive. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Port Inland Road when it left the roadway, traveling into the ditch, and struck a tree. The driver was identified as 57 year old, Paul McGahan of Gulliver, Michigan. He was pronounced deceased at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital later in the evening.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Troopers were assisted by the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department, Sault Tribal Police Department, MSP Gladstone, MSP St. Ignace, along with Manistique EMS and Doyle Township First Responders. The investigation is on-going.
