Ford Says They Will Have A Self-Driving Car In 5 Years

Ford says it will have a fully self driving vehicle on the road in five years.

CEO Mark Fields made the announcement today.

Ford says the vehicle will be in a ride-hailing or ride-sharing service.

Fields also announcing that Ford is doubling the size and staff of its research center in Silicon Valley and will invest in several businesses that develop the building blocks of self driving vehicle.

A number of car companies have been working on automated car technology, but this is the first time that a company has set a specific date.
