Congress has approved a measure which allows a Michigan veteran to receive the Medal of Honor for an act of valor performed 47-years ago.

James McCloughan of South Haven served as a medic during the Vietnam War. Before the legislation, service members had to be recommended for the award within five-years of the act of heroism.
