Michigan’s Unemployment Rate Reaches Five Percent

Michigan’s December seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased to 5 percent in December as the state saw an increase in the total labor force by 14,000.

The increase was from 4.9 percent in November, and was the only time in 2016 the jobless rate stood at 5 percent.

The increase was due in part to seasonal changes in the state’s job market.
