How safe is your child walking to and from school?

According to the latest Safe Kids Report, 24 Michigan children were killed in pedestrian accidents last year.

Many of those deaths took place shortly before or after school.

Kate Carr, president and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide, says schools and police can take a big role in helping make neighborhoods safer.

But she says drivers and walkers could also do their part by putting down their phones and paying more attention to their surroundings.
