Snowmobiler Killed In Accident In Luce County

A downstate man is dead following a snowmobile accident in Luce County.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Sault Ste Marie Post were dispatched to Snowmobile Trail 9 near County Road 452 in McMillan Twp on Friday just before 11:30am for a snowmobile accident.

They found that the driver and lone occupant, a 71-year-old Grand Haven, man died from injuries sustained as a result of the accident.  Authorities says the driver lost control of his snowmobile, ran off the road trail, and hit a group of trees.

Troopers believe speed to be a factor, however alcohol use is unknown pending further investigation.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the Luce County EMS, Luce County Sheriff’s Department road and snowmobile patrol units along with the DNR.
