Winter Blasts Downstate

Not happy with Spring in the Copper Country?

Things could be worse, much worse.

Downstate is bracing for a severe winter storm.

National Weather Service forecasters say some parts of the Thumb region of Michigan could get eight inches of snow.

A lakeshore flood advisory has been posted for the Saginaw area.

It started last night and will run until 8am Friday.

A high wind watch also is in effect for several counties until Friday morning.

Winds up to 60 miles per hour are possible throughout the state and other parts of the U.S.

Coast Guard is urging people to stay away from the Lake Michigan shoreline.

An advisory posted by the Coast Guard says people should remain vigilant and stay off of piers, beaches and rocks as the high winds are expected to create high waves and dangerous surf conditions.
