State Park Reservation System Being Renovated

Those planning to stay in a state park campground or shelter next November will have to wait until just before their trip to make the reservation.

The Department of Natural Resources is moving to a new reservation system in November 2013, so the current system is only taking reservations through October 2013.

Denise Gruben, manager of the DNR campground reservation system, says the goal is to have a state-of-the art reservation system that matches the beauty and quality of the state parks and harbors.

Once the new system is in place, it will again allow for reservations on a rolling one-year-ahead window for the shelters.

Campsites and harbor slips remain on a six-month window, so reservations for those will not be affected until May, when reservations will only be allowed through October.
